It has been machined out on the bottom to receive the butt ends of the firearms for a more secure fitment. Both top and bottom pieces are cut with the same angle to give a better lean up against wall. These two pieces are finished with a spray on clear coat. They come with felt that you will have to installed on the barrel holder and inside the base cutouts you will install also. The barrel holder has 3 predrilled for you. You will also receive 3 drywall inserts 3 screws and 3 oak plugs to cover screw holes.
